Heritage Slate is a small construction company here in beautiful northeastern Vermont specializing in building envelopes.

What is a “building envelope”? It is the portion of your home that keeps water and unwanted air from penetrating into your structure. This may include roofing, siding, deck to building attachment points, and even foundation grading. It is an incredibly important (but largely unseen) system in your house that prevents premature rot and helps guarantee energy efficiency.

To me, William Williams, owner and founder of Heritage Slate, each of our projects is more than a job. We try very hard to make sure everyone on your project feels ownership of their part of the project and in this way we are inspired to give our very best. We realize that we are working on your home, your school, or your dreams!

Why Did we name the company Heritage Slate? My family has been installing and repairing slate roofs for three generations with a fourth in training even today!

This heritage drives our company-wide pursuit of excellence. Why? Simply put – we want our projects to last.

We enjoy using traditional methods coupled with modern materials to build a beautiful functional product. While we understand that cost is always a driving factor we endeavor to pursue projects that we can be proud to say “We Built that”.
